    10/7 afternoon

    >From Oursan Trail:
9 Common Mergansers sunned themselves at the western shore of Briones
Reservoir, near Cal Berkeley's boat house.

A late young Pied-Billed Grebe with stripes on its face was being fed by an
    adult near the Spillway.

    10/8 morning

    >From Bear Creek Trail:
A dead buck on the uphill side of the trail (between Overlook Staging Area
and a "not drinking water" sign) attracted flies and several Turkey
Vultures. If you can hold your breath, it's a good chance to see the dark
    face of juveniles.

Also saw twice an Osprey flew above the trail on the reservoir side.

(Trails around Briones Reservoir belong to EBMUD. Permit required.)
