[EBB Sightings] Skip's Willow

EastBayBirders,

Despite my whining that it was too hot and that we wouldn't see any
interesting birds around the neighborhood in the midday sun, Skip insisted
on a Dog-and-Bird-Walk today. Two-thirds of the way around our usual west
side San Ramon circuit, and with both our tongues hanging out from the heat,
Skip and I were surprised to find an Empid fly-catching from a fence
bordering the greenbelt. Skip, soon satisfied that he had his life WILLOW
FLYCATCHER, did some whining of his own when I insisted upon close (and in
Skip's view too prolonged) inspection of all relevant field marks. Skip
decided to forgo a second look when I returned a few minutes later with Pat
and scope. Too bad. He missed what would have been his life SAY'S PHOEBE
fly-catching from the fence on the opposite side of the greenbelt.
