The LAPLAND LONGSPUR remains at Cesar Chavez park at the Berkeley Marina. I
found it around 5:30 and watched it eat grass seeds in the company of 3-4
Savannah Sparrows until about 6:30. I believe it's an adult in basic
(nonbreeding) plumage. I got a couple looks at the bird's breast and noted a
dark breast band but no buff color.

Denise Wight's directions are perfect. I found the bird as soon as I
arrived. Denise wrote "From the 90 degree bend in the road that heads out to
the bay, (Yahoo maps calls these "Unnamed Street" and Virginia Street) park
and walk north along the paved trail about 20 yards. The longspur was on a
grassy mound, just west of the trail and about 10 yards north of a small,
    red fire hydrant."
