[EBB Sightings] First White-Crowned and Golden-Crowned Sparrows

Hi East Bay Birders,

Yesterday the first white-crowned and gold-crowned sparrows for the season
appeared in my backyard.  They were about 5 days early, as for the past two
years they showed up or were heard on September 23.  Have not heard them,
which I think is surprising, but I got to see them instead.  I live in
Walnut Creek, at the north dead end of Overlook Drive.

Today the white-crowned sparrow was here again.  I expect that all of his
friends and relatives will show up soon.  Every year we usually host 15-20
of each species for the winter, and if we're lucky, a white-throated
sparrow.
