    They wander around Arrowhead Marsh like chickens - nobody seems to have 
    told that colony they're supposed to be both rare and shy....
    
    Twice at afternoon low tides I've seen one bathing near the outer end of 
    the boardwalk that heads out over the tide flats - dousing in a little 
    pool, preening every feather, and then spreading them out to dry.
