    Hello ebb--

An interesting morning here in El Sobrante. The back yard is
ringed with 60-70ft Monterey Pines in the neighbor's yards.
Diving and squaking Steller's Jays caught my eye, and I
noticed they were harassing a very small falcon. I managed to
find my binoc's in time to get a glimpse of what looked
like an American Kestrel. I base this ID mostly on the size
of the bird, as it did not appear to be much larger than
the mature Steller's. Looked like about 8 to 10 Steller's
were in the group. It was a somewhat languid harrasment,
as a Steller's would dive and the Kestrel would swoop and
turn and evade after dodging a few branches away. Then it
would be the Kestrel's turn to dive and harry, after each
had rested for 10 seconds or so. This went on for several
minutes, until the participants moved to another part of
the Pine habitat out of my vision.

A couple of Scrub Jays added to the calls in back, and a
Black Phoebe was chirping in the front yard again, with
the chirp/tail flick as it perched, looking up at me
    through the front window.
