For those interested there is a Tropical Kingbird reported on the [Northern California] Birdbox by Denise [Wight] in Contra Costa. It's at the west side of Hidden Lakes, near Martinez. Park just west of Center and Glacier, take the footpath to the left, passed the blue and orange playground and the bird is in the eucalyptus grove behind the group seating area. It has been present since last Wednesday. Forgive any spelling mistakes! Good luck if you go for it.

Hi E. B. Birders,

Thanks Graham, for posting the info about the Tropical Kingbird. The bird was originally found by Elizabeth Dickey last Wednesday along Morello Ave, southwest of the footbridge.

I relocated the bird this morning at 9:00 AM in the Eucalyptus grove. (see Graham Etherington's previous post for directions). It spent most of the time sitting quietly, with it's back to me, blending in with the Euc. leaves. At about 10:30 AM Steve Glover and I found it again and watched it for about 15 minutes, actively flycatching and perching in more open areas than it had earlier. It then flew off to the residential area north of the park. Kevin Hintsa said as far as he knew, it was not seen between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM this afternoon.

According to Steve, this is only the 2nd record for Contra Costa County.
